Trinidad & Tobago Carnival 2009 was officially launched yesterday at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad by the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs and the National Carnival Commission (NCC).
The venue was literally transformed into a mini Carnival Village, with guests being greeted outside by traditional Mas characters dancing to steel band music. Once inside the hotel, guests were met with a rhythm section that filled the halls leading to the foyer, while the corridors to the foyer were lined with costumed masqueraders.
Inside the foyer, guests got a peek into what the 2009 Trini carnival season has to offer, as there were feature performances by a number of leading artistes including: the reigning Calypso Monarch (Sugar Aloes), extempo by Black Sage and Lingo, Groovy Soca Monarch Shurwayne Winchester, Chutney Soca Monarch Rooplal G, LH Pan Groove, Stalin (Dr Leroy Calliste), Soca Monarch Bunji Garlin, Road March Queen Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez and the Woodbrook Playboyz.
Trinidad Carnival 2009 is now officially underway!
